HOO BOY

So Sunday my computer basically died. I scrambled like a feral animal to recover the comic files because I hadn't backed them up in a few weeks, saved them first. Then for about 12-14 hours I struggled to get the system up and running again, coming to terms with possible solutions such as needing to buy a new computer or just losing most of my data (as long as the comic is safe I wouldn't be shunted into super depression but it would have sucked.)

Fortunately, with a second Sata cable and a second hard drive and some excellent help and emotional support from my friend, we were able to get the thing back up and running. That said, it put me behind in comic work and raised my stress levels pretty significantly, heh... seems I can't catch a break. All's okay, but my buffers already taken a bit of a beating. I'm maintaining, for now.

Gone then. Shame. I guess some other time then. I understand Irwin had to disappear fast but I am not sure he would like to see Chase anyway. Chase seems more concerned with that idea.
I know they are brothers but tbh I always felt like at least one wanted the other gone. Not dead but away. Now there is a chance they can meet...
I am not talking about Clara because while I thought so at first, I think she never was an issue between them. Unless I do not recall anything and it would not be important to the story anyway I guess.
Just their general differences in opinions exhibited somewhere near the beginning. If I remember that right :D

As long as the HDD is okay, you just need to transfer the data somewhere. That was lucky. Anything else can be replaced or repaired. Data recovery on the other hand (if possible) can be pretty darn expensive so good to hear it was not anything serious.
About a year ago a friend's HDD almost died and started showing damaged sectors. We had a tool for recovering data since I worked with that stuff before but holy hell... the process was constantly running and finished only early this year, lmao. At least he saved a lot of money.

It would seem so, yes.. I imagine that Irwin wants to see Chase again, too, yes - he wants his life back.

In terms of their relationship as brothers, well.. it's good that I've successfully communicated the strain there ;) that's all I'll say for now.

Yes - the hard drive was and is MOSTLY okay, but the sector with all the system files bonkered up, and the HP partitions that have the windows installer on it were nuked, and apparently because HP owns the key to that particular license of windows, I can't make bootable media from Microsoft since the key "isn't theirs now" :I

It was spooky, but I got that free upgrade to 10 with that machine so I just had to get my friend who already had a windows 10 boot drive to hook me up and we were off to the races :)

That's absolutely NUTS that that drive recovery took that long. You might have spent that much money on energy at that point, if not more D:

Whew! that takes me back to my TRS-80 days. The first rule of Trash 80: save early, save often.

Hmmm, so many feels in this scene. You have to sympathize with Clara. Over a period of weeks she has gone from being a young academic to escaping from Innsmouth and surviving assassination attempts, it would be like studying mythology and suddenly finding out that all the creatures were real and they aren't at all nice.
The symmetry in the last panel is really cool. The wall sconces are a nice touch. Details like that help anchor the scene to a time and place with out having to be hyper detailed

Oh no, I was saving! Everything was saved, but if the thing it's saved on goes up in smoke, it don't matter, hahaha!

Yeah, Clara has had a tough couple of weeks here, for sure. I don't think it's caught up with her yet, but she might be near the breaking point..

Thank you, though - I wanted to have a neat silhouette, but this is smack dab in the middle of my burnout, these pages, so I feel kinda gross looking at them. They're not my best effort, I feel :(

Right, now back everything up. Then back everything up again and keep that backup at a different physical location to the first one. There was nothing like Sinclair Microdrives to instil a healthy paranoia.

Yeah, I'm making as many copies as I can, heh. I'm considering setting up a RAID on my next machine just because of this :X

It is good that you have a computer-savvy friend who was able to assist you. Sounds like you have gained quite a bit of computer lore yourself.

As for me, I back up my data files religiously (every Sunday night).
