If this "Black Man" is who I think it is, it's very intriguing that he'd help Chase. :o

Very interesting to see more and more people align with this theory :)

The "Pale Beast" or the "Creep from the Hill" - two not very nice though accurate nicknames for Jaunt??

*eyebrows rise* I'm not the best with the original canon, but the only entity that matches that description . . . *looks it up to be sure*

. . . huh. Nyarty is either testing Jaunt, or is playing a really, really deep game.

Or Google has failed me. Also possible.

I LOVE HOW MUCH ROY SMILES, he is my ray of sunshine in this comic. I literally don't care what his motivations are.

Also "The Creep From The Hill" is one of my favorite Beatles songs!

He's like Jaunt in human form! Except smiles instead of smirks. He's just brimming with positivity most of the time!

And yeah, I remember that song! "Heyyy, Creep from the Hill! What did you kill? Creep from the Hill!"

I guess that is another player of unknown allegiance kinda like Thigg. They do not necessarily ally themselves with humans thought it is convenient while the monsters seem to be the enemy. Jaunt especially if he is the supposed "pale one". Hm.

Very possible that it's another faction taking advantage of allies of convenience. But really, am I just going to keep introducing factions until the cows come home? :)

Roy in this scene = kid in candy store. :)

As previously noted, I am liking Roy more and more as he is revealed, not because I -trust- him, per-say, but because he's an interesting character. Were he to turn out to be yet another antagonist to Chase and Clara, presuming of course that they ARE the protagonists, then I wouldn't be shocked, but I would find it to be an unfortunate turn of events, mainly because he seems to be the best equipped "ally" they've encountered so far.

Honest assessment? I think that Roy will be "on their side" so long as they are useful to him, but otherwise his motives are unclear. Half the fun is going to be finding out where things go from here and what role he has in the story. Considering it's Lovecraft-themed though, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up a casualty along the way, because that's just what to expect from the unexpected. ;)

Oh yeah, he's super pleased to hear details about this.

I'm glad that you like him, though, I was hoping the character would gel with people and not be an irritating outsider from the cast, heh. In terms of protagonists, I like to think I have a cast of protagonists that are each others antagonists. It's a little tough to make that WORK in terms of finding out who the 'main' character is, but I like to think that sorta shifts.

Some characters definitely have a more definitive character arc, though. Anyway, I think people will dig the direction Roy and Imemi go :) I hope you do!

That Guy Over There
18th Oct 2017, 9:11 PM

We've been getting the impression from chapter one that Nyarlathotep is playing a bigger game. It makes sense, though: Nyar isn't a servant of Cthulhu or Yog Soth-oth, but instead a servant of Azatoth, the heaviest of heavyweights in the mythos. In fact, Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth, Cthulhu, Tsathoggua, Shub-Niggurath, and many other major players in Lovecraft's mythos were direct descendants of Azatoth. So, Nyar isn't necessarily here to make Yog's or Jaunt's life easier. Nyar is a servant of the 'blind idiot god', so there's absolutely no telling what his game plan might be, since there's no telling what his true master's will might be from moment to moment. Nyar might be here solely to make sure that no one ever gets too far ahead in the game: After all, a player who gets too strong might try to supplant 'dear old dad' as the center of the universe. And given that Yog-Sothoth's plans seem to be nearing completion, now would probably be the best time to start throwing monkey wrenches into the works.

Very strong speculation, as per usual - it makes me happy to see this theory coming to light, I don't believe it's been showing up in the comments until just a couple pages ago. In terms of Nyarlathotep's potential motivations, you're spot on. Beyond that, I reserve my right to not comment on said speculation ;)
