Sceeene, change! Let's see what the Shambler's up to, eh?

Have a good weekend everyone!

I know a Shambler is what Jaunt originally was, but for some reason I just can't think of him as what he started as, but rather what he has become. That's the power of good characterization. :)

Also, uh oh, what's that otherworldly fly up to with that bite? Poison? Laying eggs? Being affectionate? I hope Thigg has an appropriate response for whatever it is!

Metaphor

What that otherworldly fly was up to was probably just feeding a bit ... and, as Kytruck illustrated below, showing us the metaphor going on. Literal "brave little sucker" as metaphor for our bi-worldly symbiont hero.

@Thracecius - Thank you! I'm glad to see that people are thinking of Jaunt as more than just the monster he was :)

@both - Honz has the right of it - it's just biting. And it may or may not be a metaphor ;D

Fortunately, that is always the case with super powerful beings. They like to consider the heroes insignificant and then they are surprised much later when something actually happens.
Nah. You either come down from your dimension and eliminate them OR you laugh and leave and later find yourself defeated.
Although I doubt most of them in this lore can be truly defeated by anyone BUT their buddies, haha.

It's true - Nyarlathotep is just the kind of egotist that would ignore threats until it's too late. I'm sure he can be defeated but probably not killed, right? Unless it was Azathoth killing him, heheh :)

Who swatted the fly-thing off, Irwin or Thigg? I.o.w., who of them controls this arm?

Edit - Random thought on seeing panel 4: It's a few days now that Irvin and Thig are together, isn't it? Shouldn't Irvin have a need to shave, meanwhile?

(I wear a similar beard, minus the lip-to-chin stripe and thicker. There are always hairs where they are not wanted after a few days...)I

I have posted on this before, but this style of beard became popular in the 1860s when Amish men, who were pacifists, wanted to distinguish themselves from the military, whose members had mustaches with their beards.

Having no hair around the mouth is advantageous for eating and other... activities. That are my reasons at least, nothing political.

Is it Irwin, or is it Thigg? Is it both? Either way they reacted to it in unison it would seem :D

As for the beard, perhaps he has been shaving with a thigg-razor? XD

I did feel as though it was a little heavy handed :')

Maybe Thigg has fourth-wall capabilities so he can examine what happened from our perspective?

I was thinking about a housekeeping issue for Irwin/Thigg. We understand the comic book concept that certain metahumans, such as the Flash, have high metabolisms and need a higher caloric intake than do normal humans, even if he and other speedsters can tap into the extradimensional energy field Speed Force to gain some of his abilities. Likewise, I imagine that the Wolverine has higher caloric requirements when his body is in its healing mode.

Thigg would have had to some source for the twenty or so pounds of physical matter required to regenerate a new arm for Irwin. That would be a lot of food to eat if Irwin was the source of the matter, not to mention the growth time.

I am wondering if Thigg can tap into cosmic energy, like the Silver Surfer, to do the things that he wants to do. Or perhaps another extradimensional source that human science doesn't yet know about.

I have always imagined that Thigg is a lot more alien that Irwin understands.

I actually really like this thought experiment!

I have to try and not think about the science too much with superheroes, especially when it comes to The Flash and Wolverine, because holy heck that just doesn't make any sense! The Flash would have to be consuming an endless amount of calories while he runs to keep up all that stuff, and Wolverine is no different.

In terms of Thigg, though, I haven't specifically SHOWN what's happening, only hinted at it, but it appears that it has completely digested Kurt, the bug monk, and now the entire inside of this space whale.

This is indeed canon: Thigg compresses material into something like dark matter within itself so that it can tap into the resources when it needs them, either for making things, for portals, or whatever it needs at the moment :)

Oh jeez. That almost wants me want to make an infographic where the word CHARACTER uses the word ARM to SMACK the word METAPHOR off of the word HAND. :')
