Ah, THERE'S the action :D

So! Here's the deal, everyone: This week I'm working on the last two pages of this chapter. That means we have 7 pages left until it's over (the chapter ran longer than I intended, whoops!)

In meat space, I unfortunately still have not found stable work, and still have not found a place to move into. It's looking like that might CHANGE soon, but I'm not sure. The reason I bring this up is because I'm thinking I might need to take another break at the end of this chapter - not my usual one week break but a two/three week break. Only if you guys are okay with it of course.

I would fill the normal days with sketches or some kind of filler like last time, too :)

Thoughts?

I love the details you fit into your art without cluttering it (the vertical lines on the shirt and your clothing folds in general). Looks great.

As for the break, take it. It's better to take that break and come back than to try and power through and then never come back to the comic at all.

Once again, if you want something filler-y, let me know. (it'd probably be more of a sketch this time, but I'd still be up for it).

Ah, thanks :D I keep trying and trying to find the balance, sounds like I'm getting somewhere, haha.

I appreciate it, though, I'll tally that down for a 'break okayness' mark, heheheh. Let's see how everyone else feels.. I could do a strawpoll again I suppose!

About you doing more filler art, man, no, the last thing you did was so overkill and I love it so much. I haven't repaid you for it, yet, which is truly shameful.

I agree 100% with Joey's sentiments. Take care of business and the comic will take care of itself. We'll still be here when you resume normal posting. :)

I hate doing it because I've been alright with just one week breaks between chapters in the past, but I think the burnout is too everpresent these days for me to keep up that pace.

I appreciate that you guys are okay with it :)

That appreciation flows both ways, so no worries and follow your plan. One thing I've noticed about some of the more reliable (from a reader's perspective) comickers out there is that they plan ahead and let their audience know what's going on. You'd be surprised how far a little communication goes with the readership, especially when the circumstances are easily relatable (we all have to eat, sleep & have time off), because if people know what to expect, it's easier to be patient.

So, secure the homefront, ease your mind for awhile and keep in touch. We'll thank you for it and will be eagerly, but patiently, awaiting new episodes of your story. :)

As I have posted here before, take are of yourself. From my own selfish point of view, I look at it as shepherding the long term viability of the comic.

You can tell that drawing Jack is a labor of love. Jack is staying true to form. Maybe it is just his Byakhee nature but he seems inexperienced at actual combat. I think the phrase is "target lock". Jack is so focused on the desired target that he is ignoring the greater threat in the room.

Ah yes, as long as I come back to it, it will get done, I see what you mean :)

I do love drawing Jack. He's a lot of fun. He represents, while not elegant, a certain grace in combat required of one that's fast and light and unable to teleport like Jaunt.

Target Lock is a good phrase, but also Tunnel Vision, right? He has to deal with what he came here for, and he's super focused.

Yeah. Jack went after his priority target and he is quite agile. Irwin is good but I guess I see maybe bits of his limitation. He prefers combat where he can remain stationary and keeping his enemy away from him while Thigg focuses on appropriate counters.
That is why he had a bit of trouble with Hugh because well, that is like being a tree and a giant is stomping towards you.

What might happens is that Clara will conclude the fight. Irwin would listen to her and perhaps Jack would pause the fight as well? Hm.

By the way, I will ask this again. Sorry!
No other way other than Patreon?
Regardless, take care! Priorities + stability lead to good mood and that leads to more projects :D

That's a good point, with Irwin's mobility. He's a slow, versatile weapon, and probably more powerful, but Jack is FAST and versatile. We'll see how this goes for them both :)

I do hope you like the direction it goes, even if it isn't what you predict.

I'm thinking about looking into a Kofi! We'll see. :) It seems people are liking that one.

I have been reading your comic some time now and i like how you tell your storry. The thing i like most tho is that we get to see the storry from the "monsters" side and you almost make me want them to winn or at least not die. :P

Some other comics i realy liked have stoppt updating because the wrighter ruined themselves or the comic in there own mind.

I just hope that we will be able to see how this storry ends. And that you are able to feel well while telling it.

I will be here reading your storry but only if you are able to tell it.
If you need a brake take it.
If you need to rest do it.

I wish you all the luck in the world and i hope you feel well.

Man, this means a lot to me. Thank you so much.

I don't want to burn out and stop - I've made life choices around this comic because it's so important to me that I can get it done, for a number of reasons. If people like you are still around reading, it makes a difference.

Thanks again, and I hope you continue to enjoy it until the conclusion! :)

Love the determination in Clara's eyes. This is not a damsel in distress. I'm willing to bet she has a gun under her pillow, and is willing to use it, now that she's recovered her equilibrium. (And rolled a 20 on her save vs. insanity!)

Take the break you need to take. Being able to EAT generally takes priority. And you update a heck of a lot more regularly than a number of comics that I could mention, but won't . . .

She's not quite affected by combat paralysis, no - as to what sort of defenses she has, well, I'll let the scene play out :D

Thank you - I'm doing what I can to take care of myself. It's difficult in my current situation but I have some very kind people in my life taking care of me for the time being. I'm trying to get better for their sake and for the sake of the comic/you guys.

Apologies if this has already been suggested and won't work for you for whatever reason, but have you considered doing a Patreon? Or even just a tip jar? A lot of webcomic artists seem to find that working for them, these days (in spite of Patreon's recent lapse in standards which they were forced to retreat from) and even if it doesn't allow you to do it exclusively of day job, it might take some of the pressure off.

Actually, I already do have a Patreon! :)

I have been considering getting a Kofi as well because some people might just want to tip rather than schedule a payment. It's been going okay so far, but mostly I just use the funds to buy art software or advertise the comic with, for the most part.

Oh good, but don't be shy about promoting it more prominently - look at what everyone else is doing, it won't be crass at all - and yes, put up the Ko-Fi as well, especially with Patreon being eedjits recently and Drip still in beta. You're providing free entertainment at the cost of a lot of effort on your part!

Dude, yes! Take whatever breaks you need to keep on keepin' on.

And I think that would be a "yes" on Irwin seeing in the dark. Interesting. Does that mean Thigg's affecting his senses? Or is he somehow "seeing" through Thigg's form? Some kind of nonvisual sensory ability?

I would say it is not exactly pitch black in the room even with the light destroyed. It seems to me Clara can still see enough to know Jack is charging at her so I guess Irwin can as well plus if Thigg can sense stuff like Jaunt warping it then this is probably piece of cake.

I would say that destroying the light was another reason...

Definitely do what you need to do to avoid burnout. Trying to keep to an arbitrary schedule is a fast track to stale art.

Clara and Irwin are clearly going to have to have a heart-to-heart talk about what he has been up to since she saw him last. <g>

Anyway, good luck and take care!
