Not only is he resilient, you see, he is also quite brutal.

Despite what the number says in the web address, this is the 350th page of the comic. That's not including guest art and cover pages, just pages of the comic itself. Thank you everyone for coming along on this craziness with me :)

Also, congrats on page 350. You are going to have a multi-volume graphic novel when all is said and done.

Yes, the goal was to make this fight short and to the point. Seems that's working ;)

And thank you! I hope something comes of it, whatever it is, heh.

The ONLY way this could be better is if the globe were replaced with a cast iron skillet.

Then it could have gone FWANG!

Oh geez, that's gonna hurt. Poor Thigg is just one big eyeball.

Well THAT'S gotta hurt. Yeouch, Irwin.

Also, Jack needs to learn situational awareness if he wants to survive urban life. ;)

You have to imagine it's pretty painful :D

And yeah, situational awareness, a little lacking. Jack had tunnel vision coming into this, looks like he hasn't shaken it.

Yeah. Jack used the opening but was this a good choice? I would not fight Irwin like this with a small weapon. He might as well plunge his extended tentacle right through my body and still had plenty of weapons at his disposal. He still more of a ranged guy though.

Or maybe Clara will stop this. Kinda weird to see your guy getting slashed in a frenzy, haha.

Lastly, depends on where Jack hit Thigg. If the eye then it could be serious. Otherwise, Thigg is bit of a tank so...

My bet is on a nasty counter-counter attack.

To be fair, Jack wasn't there for the fight between Jaunt and Thigg, and any information he's been given about it may not have been complete enough. He's done really well to react with confidence against a human looking opponent who, surprisingly, has several non-human tricks up his sleeve. Especially because, as far as I could tell, he really expected Clara to be alone at this moment.

Not to mention very little prep time in the first place. He charged in not really knowing who the opponent is.
My other guess is that Jaunt gave Jack the weapon to fight such opponents. Not saying Thigg directly as I THINK Jack obtained the weapon before Jaunt fought Thigg but more of a precaution. After all, the weapon has kinda similar rules to Thigg's weapon shape shifting abilities. What better weapon than one that can also counter multiple weapons.

So no, Jack did not enter the fight unprepared.
Still, my bet is on the sheer raw utility Thigg previously displayed even when Irwin was severely injured (granted, Nyarl interrupted the fight).

But yes. He is faring exceptionally well so far :D

*munches popcorn* :D

As these are things that have already passed I'll comment on the following: Jack has NO idea who Irwin is, the dagger was given before Jaunt's fight with Thiggwin so it wasn't in response, it just happens to have similar properties.

Jack was only expecting to see Clara here, the arrival of Irwin was a surprise to both him and Clara, making this whole thing very awkward.

Hopefully that clears some things up :)

Gore! and Action!

Holy cow MP. It's been a while since I commented, but I haven't missed an update cause I just, can't, get, enough.
Your character models are getting smoother, and the action has been feeling more natural since before the big fight between Thigg and Jaunt (poor Hugh). And as said a little earlier, this update in particular is delightfully visceral.

And of course, Clara continues to prove herself as my favorite human character. Being both wise enough to run and smart enough to pick her moment to attack, combined with her initiative and intellect... She's just such a wonderfully well-rounded and rational character who dearly deserves to survive this mythos.

What up, HD? You've been around for a long long time, so I'd take any praise or criticisms from you quite seriously :)

Dude, it makes me so happy to read that these characters are looking more put together - I've been working hard to make them unified and recognizable. I guess my consistency is improving!

I'm glad you like this new direction for action sequences, and Clara's development :) She's not a violent sort, usually, but when you're in a situation like this you have to try and engage intelligently. Just jumping in would have gotten her killed.

I hope you continue to enjoy the trajectory as the story boils up towards the climax :D

*evil grin* But then, the logic train continues, since this is a Lovecraft story, those who deserve to survive may in fact be the first ones to truly die. In the dramatic third-act twist, where the worst monster breaks through every layer of Plot Armor. The audience gasps as they are reminded that in Lovecraft, the humans were fleeting and inconsequential. And the temporary moment of hope where those who were enemies are brought together to drive back an even greater evil, for a short time at least.

Don't mind me, my brain just ran off on a tangent.

Your neural network actually makes a good point :D

I in no way expect many, if anyone, getting out of this story alive || unharmed || messed up for life. I am not AS familiar with the lore and setting but that much I probably know. And if any human survives, they will probably end up in an asylum babbling about dark gods and monsters.

Ultimately, the gods have all the time in the universe and care little about anyone lesser. They can just try again if something goes wrong. They can ALWAYS try again. The cast will just suffer as needed.

Until then, I hope Thiggwin gets as far as he can because I cheer on him the most :>

I am behind on literally every comic I read. By a lot. To the point I'm not sure it makes sense to say that I read them anymore.

So no worries! I'm glad you like these pages so far, though :D

Wow, that is a very effective transition from the preliminary feints to the serious work of eliminating your enemy!

of sound effects

I love "Hack, hack, hack ..." "Whack", Jack.
There's a poetic appropriateness to it.
Also, the sickle is pretty keen, literally and figuratively. How unlike the wielder of such a progressive weapon to overlook the damsel in distress.
Now the two chaps shall reap what they've sown.

That globe ...

Poor Jack is like Atlas ... with the weight of world upon his shoulders. If only he weren't a would-be serial killing psycho.
