Hope you're all doing well.

I'm trying not to feel too burned out again, trying to balance work, comic stuff, getting ready for school and stuff - seems like I'm going in August after all.

I'm just a ball of stress right now :')

3 day weekend... we'll see if that helps. Have a good one, all!

Perhaps Thigg is an avatar of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Back in the 20's an overnight kit would be a lot slimmer than it is now days.

Hah! Maybe? :)

I haven't thought too much about it, I guess I wouldn't know :D Clara seems to be pretty judicial about her use of makeup in general, heh.

"Alien Swiss-army knife" is probably the best description Thigg could obtain and something he should put on his CV if possible. On top of that, a sentient Swiss-army knife with a very capable human user. Irwin is the kind of character who would need constant nerfs if this were a game, lmao :D

I agree with some previous posters who said Clara is taking this very bravely. At the same time, I appreciate even she seems disturbed and stressed the hell out. No matter how used you are or what you encountered before, a tough experience is tough experience and she is just a human.

---

Ah yeah. The kind of stress students often mention and in the end, I remember it all too well. You only know it if you also have to work alongside school and plenty of students do not have to. Although in your case it is the "bizarre" case of going to school much later so kinda in reverse? Good luck with your studies or whatever you are going to do there. Chances are you might actually end up teaching. Possible?

I was happy to learn that the swiss army knife was in circulation back then, ehehe :)

Now that pages have advanced, I hope people can see that through her bravery, there are still cracks. There's only so much one person can take, yes :)

---

Yeah, it's.. I really wish school was as easy as expressing interest, paying money, then going. It's a whole friggin' THING here. There's so much involved and that's the part I'm REALLY bad at, so, yeah, pain. :/

Take it slow, pace yourself, and all that.

Chase is taking the news well, seems like. "Oh, Irwin's alive. Oh, he has an alien arm. We'll discuss it later."

I guess once you've seen some things in the Mythos, you get a bit desensitized to it? That kinda goes against the nature of slowly-accruing insanity, but maybe it's slightly more realistic, heh.

The first rule of Mythos Club is you don't talk about Mythos Club.

I don't mean for him to come across as so nonchalant - he didn't SEE it, so what Clara's describing might be a trick of the eyes, or maybe SHE's losing it? Either way, the instinct of not letting the cops overhear overtook any fear or confusion he might have had in that moment :)

While the mores of the time would have discouraged this arrangement, I have to believe that their relationship is purely based on their concern for Irwin and otherwise is strictly platonic.

Still, they had better not cross any state lines.

Hah! Yeah, what is that charge again? Would Chase get charged with abduction or something like that? Goodness.

People have speculated in the past that there might be something between Chase and Clara.. I find this... interesting. All I can say is let's see how that pans out, eh? :)

It was the Mann Act, passed by Congress in 1910 and covered crossing a state line with "any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose". It is still in effect, although today it is mostly used to combat sex trafficking.

Violating the Mann Act with his white girlfriend in 1913 was what got Jack Johnson, the first Black heavyweight boxing champ, a sentence of a year and a day at Leavenworth.

Somehow I find that the "flow" of this page is just perfect.

Chase not being able to contain himself regarding Irwin, Clara blurting out the news as best as she can tell, while she's talking, Chase realizes the environment (finger) and drags her into a comforting hug. Mood changes from red to blue. Also, difficult "camera position" in the last panel, but fits the situation just... perfect.

(And these pages were done during a burnout phase? I'd say, it didn't harm the quality in a noticeable way. Well, you may notice, but I don't.)

(OK... after staring this page up and down for some minutes, one thing: It's still night, isn't it? So the windows in panel 5 should IMHO have been black. That's all. A very minor thing.)

And I feel sorry for taking nearly a week off just when you put up 3 new pages...

I'm glad that you like it so!

I'm not sure what the answer is, that I've programmed myself to such a point that even when I'm in severe burnout I can still communicate ideas visually, even if it's a little lackluster? Who knows.

The windows, yeah, I'd have made them darker but I wanted to add another color into the composition and they were the best candidate for the job ;)

Also seriously don't worry about it. There are people who don't read for months! And I totally get it XD

Honestly can't stop thinking about how nice and soft and squishy that robe must be. Chase might get more hugs more often if he incorporated it into his daily wardrobe.
