I initially read the second to last bubble as 'the idea of eating a sailor has a certain appeal to it'

Got excited for a moment ;)

Oh jeez. Oh. That could work in many ways. Uh. Yeah he didn't say that XD

Sorry for letting you down? Question mark? Hahaha

I'm guessing it's not just "booze and vomiting".

That would dehydrate a person, after all.

Yeah, that wouldn't work so much XD

"We have fish for supper! first one thing and then another." Sorry, just a random obscure quote.
I know this story has its specific arc and too much detail is a distraction but it is still interesting to gets the bits and pieces of how Jaunt works. Shortly though, I'm betting that someone will see a whole lot of Jaunt's physiology.

I don't know this reference, either! I know neither of these references XD

Yeah, there's nothing... vital about this particular section, but I'm using the opportunity to do some development of character :)

Sorry, I think the reference is from Peter Straub and Stephen King's "The Talisman". Just one of those bits that sticks with you thirty years after you read the novel.
It may not be as exiting but you have to have character development in order to have a character that you can get invested in. Keep up the good work.

Ah ha! So many things to see/watch/read, oy :')

I'm glad that you also see the value in moments like these, though I do try not to oversaturate with them.

inb4 nothing but fish and apples.
To paraphrase one old game: "We have fish. And apples. And fish with apples."

Curious: How literal is the captain here? Do people just figure there is no point in searching the hill and the mansion and never really consider it or some magic is at work that makes them think so? Until the point when they start transforming or transform and actually start seeing the other face of the world which was until then hidden. Hm.

I don't know the reference, I'm gonna gueeess... Monkey Island? One of those?

As for Jaunt, most people in Innsmouth are real suspicious and learn not to go sticking their necks where they don't belong. Especially the transplants working there from out of town (like the poor quick-shop owner in the story Shadow Over Innsmouth, I feel for that guy!)

Anybody who has tried to get into Whippoorwill has been unsuccessful, so only rumored sightings and suspicion persist. In my mind :)

So I am not usually a commenter on much of anything. Lurking is more my jam. That said, I marathoned this comic today (got here from tvtropes) and it is >fantastic<. Thank you!!

Oh gosh, what a complement! Thank you :)

Was it a good read-through, from start to present? I haven't done that in a while so I'm curious if there were any slow points or parts that stuck out as bad/cool :)

That is a good job of capturing the captain's early stage "Innsmouth Look".

Saw this on FA and had my curiosity piqued since I love Lovecraftian tales and the Elder God Mythos, and I can honestly say that I'm officially hooked and can't wait to read more.

Oh yeah! I saw that you watched the account earlier - thank you!

I'm glad to hear it was enough to get you hooked, always pleased to know that :) I update more consistently here, so if you don't see an update on FA you can always check here, every Wednesday and Friday (in CST anyway)

I hope you continue to enjoy the story :)

Please don't take this the wrong way. But now I've gotten to the part of reading webcomics that drives me nuts and that's waiting for the next page to come out, so yeah I'll definitely be stopping by at least once a week to see how the story progresses.

Keep up the awesome work.
