I see. So is he fully programmed then? That is probably the worst state he was in then :/
After so many NDEs the real thing is probably what he would appreciate now... Other options would be better, sure, but I do not see Jack getting any kind of break ever until his very end. I suppose this is the kind of story where those who have it bad end up even worse...

Oh. Oh right. He’s an Outer God. Somehow I had forgotten that. Well. Nice to be reminded.

The last panel reminds me pleasantly of sci-fi paperback covers from the 1960s

Noo... Jack...

Nyarly was right! He needs his personality.
Nyarly done messed up here.

I'm honestly surprised that Nyar actually cares enough to say that he can figure it out later. I kind of expected a shrug and an "Eh. Break a few eggs to make an omlette."

. . . 'course, I figure he's the sort who'll forget the issue by tomorrow.

It's entirely possible that he'll forget. Or that he'll figure out that likes Jack better this way. :)

Classic daemoniac behaviour

Classic daemoniac behavior is to maximize one's own freedom, while minimizing those of one's thralls. They cannot abide God's commitment to human free will or the constraints reality imposes upon both them and mere humans.

It's true that Nyarlathotep wanted to subjugate the poor Byakhee, but it appears it may have backfired..

Two thoughts:

1. I wonder if Jaunt can detect the personality changes in Jack or the geas that he has been placed under. I don't see Jack associating much with the other members of Jaunt's crew, so they might not notice anything is amiss.

2. Or, does Jaunt just expect that Nyarlathotep is going to tamper with the minds of his minions. And make allowances for that tampering and/or geas.

Jack doesn't interact with too many people, generally, and is only really comfortable around Jaunt, for sure.

Jaunt also probably is wary of the fact that Jack was uplifted by Nyarlathotep, but past experience from before the story started has built up a good amount of trust. :)
